80 houses damaged in Hormozgan
A strong magnitude 5.5 earthquake has caused damage to several villages in Hormozgan province, Southern Iran on Saturday night. According to the Iranian Red Crescent, at least 80 houses in 10 villages suffered damage to various degrees. Some of them were declared uninhabitable. Additionally, broken water pipes caused supply interruptions. Emergency shelter for 120 people was provided, but luckily only one person suffered minor injuries due to the quake. Weak shaking of the earthquake was also felt in parts of the Unired Arab Emirates and Oman. Southern Iran is prone to moderate and strong quakes. Especially Hormozgan is affected frequently.
