Description

Little is known about this earthquake. Its magnitude was estimated to be at least 8.5 by Musson (2012). However, other sources usually refer to this earthquake with a ringe of 8.0 - 8.5. The Wichmann (1918) catalogues describes collapsed houses in Bogor, Banten and Jakarta. Harris and Major (2012) lindicate an aftershock sequence of at least 12 months.
